Certificate Installation - DCDS BYOD WiFi

In order to connect to the internet using our DCDS WiFi network you will first need to have our Certificate installed. Follow the DCDS Certificate Installation Instructions for your specific device. This will need to be done on each device you wish to connect to the WiFi. You should only have to do this the first time you connect. 

The first step is to download the certificate file to install on your device so begin by clicking the button below. Once you have downloaded the file you will need to follow the instructions on this page by selecting the type of device that you have.

DCDS Certificate Installation Instructions

  1. Open Certificate Management Console by using the key command Windows+R and then typing in ‘certlm.msc’ into the Run menu.
  2. Navigate to ‘Certificates – Local Computer’ > ‘Trusted Root Certification Authorities’ > Certificates
  3. Right-click on the Certificates folder, select ‘All Tasks’, then click ‘Import…’
  4. Follow the Wizard instructions using the file you downloaded from our website.
  5. You should be all set to connect to the wireless and access the internet.
  1. Open the Keychain Access app either by navigating to ‘Finder’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Utilities’ > ‘Keychain Access’ or by using the key command ‘Command + Spacebar’ and type in ‘Keychain Access’
  2. Once you have Keychain Access open select the ‘System’ Keychain on the left side then go up to ‘File’ > ‘Import Items…’
  3. Locate the file you downloaded from our website, select it, then click ‘Open’ in the bottom right corner.
  4. Now that the file has been imported you should see it in your System Keychain. It will have a little red ‘X’ by it. Double click on it.
  5. In the dialogue box that opens up select the ‘Trust’ dropdown. You should then see the option ‘When using this certificate’ and in the dropdown next to it select ‘Always Trust’
  6. You should be all set to connect to the wireless and access the internet.
  1. Your Android device will need to have a PIN set otherwise by default you can not install any certificates to the device. This is found under ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Screen Lock’
  2. Open the file you downloaded from our website via the Files or Downloads app.
  3. At the Name the certificate screen put DCDS in the field and press the OK button.
  4. You can verify that the certificate is installed by going to ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Trusted Credentials’ > ‘User’
  1. Download the file from our website using the Safari browser and click on the downloaded file, and press the Install button.
  2. You will be prompted with a warning message that says, “Installing this profile will change settings on your iPad.”  Press the Install Now button.
  3. The certificate will continue to install.  Once it has finished you will be presented with the following screen.
  4. You can exit this screen by pressing the Done button in the top right-hand corner.
  5. Next, you need to turn on SSL trust for that certificate, go to the Settings app > ‘General’ > ‘About’ > ‘Certificate Trust Settings’
  6. Click on the toggle next to our DCDS certificate.
  1. Open the Settings App
  2. In the Settings App go to ‘Privacy and security’ then click on ‘Manage certificates’
  3. Select the ‘Authorities’ tab and then click the ‘Import’ button
  4. Navigate to the Downloads folder and select the Certificate file and then click ‘Open’
  5. When the ‘Certificate authority’ window appears check all three boxes on the left then click ‘OK’
  6. You should be all set to connect to the wireless and access the internet.
  1. Open the Firefox Browser
  2. Click the Menu button in the upper right corner
  3. Choose Options

  4. Open the ‘Privacy & Security’ tab
  5. Scroll down to the ‘Certificates’ section
  6. Click the ‘View Certificates…’ button

  7. In the ‘Certificate Manager’ window click on ‘Import…’ under the Authorities tab
  8. Find the file that you just downloaded on your computer. It should be named ‘enterprise-ca.cer’ and will likely be located in your downloads folder.
  9. In the ‘Downloading Certificate’ window, tick the checkbox labeled ‘Trust this CA to identify websites’ and click OK
