(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DCDS Vision of Experiential &#8211; Engaging the Senses: Feel, Touch, Hear, See, Taste<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">): 3D printing provides self-directed experiential learning where students are engaged in direct experiences focused on reflection using these senses.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Participatory<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DCDS Vision of Participatory &#8211;\u00a0 Practice, Perform, Partner<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">): As stated above, the 3D printing process makes learning active. \u00a0 Students are participating collaboratively with the teacher and\/or each other to construct learning via the design and printing process\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Interdisciplinary<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DCDS Vision of Interdisciplinary &#8211; Perspective Analysis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">):\u00a0 3D Models require a file that needs to be created through a Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, so you need to know about the design process, about modeling, about math, about engineering&#8230;what a great way to team classes up to work together to further make lessons interdisciplinary.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Image Rich<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211;\u00a0 (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DCDS Vision of Image Rich &#8211; Viewing Images\/Videos and\/or creating<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">):\u00a0 Through the 3D printing process, students will constantly be viewing images in planning and preparation of their designs, and eventually create tangible items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Connected<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211;\u00a0 (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DCDS Vision of Connected &#8211; \u201cReal World\u201d Applications<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">):\u00a0 As mentioned above, the 3D printing process helps students see the value of lessons by incorporating real world understanding through problem solving<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, let&#8217;s conclude with some ideas on how other teachers have used 3D printing in their classroom.\u00a0 Classrooms are using 3D printing to create\/recreate:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interactive maps<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tangible models<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Architectural\/historical objects or artifacts<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Real-life structures<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Molecular structures<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Human skeleton and\/or internal organs<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decorations\/tangible usable items for the classroom such as door stops, containers, etc.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So my answer to the question, why 3D printing in the classroom would be WHY NOT?\u00a0 It offers many tremendous benefits within our EPIIC framework, while igniting or sparking creativity and imagination.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Happy Tinkering!<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why 3D Printing in the Classroom?
